Newcastle Civic Centre.
Visible for miles around, and situated at the very top of the tower on the building, is a sculpture by John Robert Murray McCheyne.
This comprises two circles of seahorse heads. The smaller circle of seahorses - largely indistinguishable from ground level - can be seen just below the ball at the foot of the uppermost pole.
Two seahorses feature on the coat of arms of the city, hence their prominence on the city's principal municipal building.
The Civic Centre was built in 1967 and was formally opened by King Olav V of Norway in 1968.
Location: Newcastle-upon-Tyne, UK
