Egton's well-photographed 'Lone Tree' stands bowing, but steadfast, on the exposed moors high above the village.
A magnet for photographers in all seasons, it has so far withstood all that Mother Nature could throw at it.
In mid to late August each year, the moorland heather blooms into rich pink and purple flowers, heralding the final few weeks of summer.
